Petey. His name is Petey. He's cold sensitive, but otherwise an excellent specimenslash pet. Petey is a roller beetle that slowly grew out of Gorrik 's skin. He can initially be found alongside Gorrik at the Zelbahn Garrison in the Allied Encampment but is later adopted as a mount by the Pact Commander to combat the Scarab Plague .
It's a very situational mount, and overall the other mounts can do everything the beetle does, sometimes even better. But oh boy, it's fun. It will take some time to get used to, as it's heavily momentum-based and extremely sensitive to terrain, meaning every uphill, downhill, slope and bump will affect your speed and movement.

Turning while tapping the drift key, vs turning while holding the drafting key, I notice that both methods the mount still wont really turn until the flames turn blue from red. It really helps for me, personally, to be zoomed out more when using the beetle so I can switch direction faster and bump into fewer obstacles.
The whole point of any mount is that it doesn't render another mount useless. If the Roller Beetle's endurance bar would be full the moment you mount it, nobody would take out their Raptor anymore. Also, don't forget that the beetle accelerates when you go downhill, regardless of special mount skills.
